Possibly Some Good Will Result

Last night I couldn't sleep so I got up and began to lay out the book about my great, great grandfather, Rev. Seth Gold Clark. It is going to be 12-14 chapters and written from him thinking about events as he travels to and from Missouri on 3 different trips.

He helped rebuild the churches along the Missouri/Kansas border. Among the towns where he established churches is Holden, Butler, Raymore, Harrisonville, Greenwood, Lamar and Appleton City in Missouri and Iola, Carlyle, Baxter Springs, Galena and Empire, in Kansas. He was also the Financial Agent for the first college in Kansas, Highland University and at that time began what was called a missionary tent outfit in Northern Kansas and Southern Nebraska.

My idea is write from his perspective about the lessons he learned during different times in his life.

The title of the book is "Possibly Some Good Will Result" with sub-title The life of Seth Gold Clark “a very busy, checkered life;”

Personal Information
I have been married for 23 years to my wife Kathryn (Kat). I have two sons and one daughter and I four grandchildren.

My favorite Bible verses:
2 Timothy 1: 7 "For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline."
Philippians 4: 13 "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me."
Ephesians 2: 8-10 "God saved you by His special favor when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so that we can do the good things He planned for us long ago."

ACHIEVEMENTS
Developed a marketing strategy to capture market share of construction lasers and global positioning systems at Laser Specialists, Inc. Men's Ministry - Vineyard Church, Overland Park, KS
I Coordinated the men's ministry at Vineyard Church of Overland Park, KS under the leadership of Mark Warner from 2002 until 2006. I stepped down to help with a new church plant in the Gardner, KS area under Pastors Mark & Jane Flora-Swick. In November of 2007 I returned to Vineyard Church in Overland Park to help rebuild the Men's Ministry.

We built the men's ministry by gathering a group of men together and forming a core group of men who had a heart to see men grow. We divided the leadership up with each of us taking on an area we had a heart for.

Moving Ministry - Vineyard Church - 2003 to 2009
I led the Moving Ministry which was a ministry focused on helping people move. Over the course of last five years we helped more than 35 families move.

Men's Small Group Leader - Vineyard Church of Overland Park, KS
I led a men's small group from 2002 until 2004. The group began with three members and grew to 10 and when it disbanded there were 6 men who consistently came together to study and pray. I thought I would lead a normal men's group but this group was made up of men who were facing life controlling issues. We covered tough issues with love and truth.

I helped lead the Celebrate Recovery at Vineyard Church.

THOUGHTS ON LEADERSHIP & MINISTRY
*I believe that ministry is done by the body of Christ.
*I Believe that equipping, empowering and creating opportunities for the church to serve is the main job of a pastor.
*I believe that leading includes four steps, 1) teaching, 2) demonstrating, 3) releasing & 4) personal involvement.
*I believe the best ministry is done by those who have a heart for ministry.
*I believe all ministry belongs to Jesus and we are care-takers of the ministry.
*I believe that my first job as a pastor is to build relationships with and shepherd the body and the community.
